Reschedule

Our flight from Stockholm to Addis got cancelled so our whole flightplan got moved to March 16th and we are now only making one change instead of three and will arrive 26 hours earlier then what we planned for. This is saving us from a lot of trouble with having to run between gates and all of that so I'm glad.

Hope the last day of 2011 is going to be amazing for everybody and I'll see you in 2012!!

Meeting and camp

Had a meeting this morning with Halmstad & Co, a local event company that really want to help out with spreading skateboarding here in Halmstad next year by helping/arranging with the marketing for different events and also with the event itself!

We talked about a Girl skatecamp that is going to take place next summer here in Halmstad that I'm going to arrange (with the help of Halmstad & Co and the HSK, of course!) Really excited about this and can't wait to get to work with it fulltime!

Facebook and Twitter

Just got a Facebook page up and runnin' and also fixed a bit with the twitter account! It all starting to come togheter!

Stockholm

The train tickets to Stockholm on March 15th are now booked. Now we only have the Nairobi trip left to book and then we're all done with tickets and hotels!

Sponsor #2: Ohana

Went by the Ohana store to talk with the owner again. He said that as soon as I get the boards from Riverfarm should I stop by and he would help complete the boards with trucks, bearings etc.

Riverfarm

Met Chrille (founder of Riverfarm) at the skatepark the other day and we started talking about my project. He agreed to sponsor me and said that I should call him next week. This is really good since Ohana has agreed to complement with trucks and so on to the boards I will be given by Riverfarm. Maybe by the end of next week I will have a few boards at home that I'm going to be able to take down with me in march!

Sick

Due to illness I haven't been able to get the things done here in Gothenburg that I'd planned. But I figured that I could do it next week, since I'm going here then as well.

Working working

Got what feels like a lot done today! Called the Capio clinic and booked a meeting about vaccination, contacted JK Safaris about our short trip to Nairobi. They helped us find a hotel and a driver. Kicki, the lady who I came in contact with, also advice us to fly between Nairobi and Mombasa instead of taking the train. She said it was not that fun of a train ride since we travel during the night and won't be able to see that much, and also because she can't guarantee that we will be safe. But I really want to take that train ride!! (and going by plane is much more expensive then by train). I've managed to put together a small budget for the Nairobi trip, were everything is counted for (food, hotel, transport and train/flight).

I also sorted all my e-mails to a special Kenya- folder, just to have everything under control.

I managed to delete my playlist that I'd made with songs for the film, but I would probably had changed it anyway. I'm saving the that work for, I think it gets easier when you've put part of the film together to figure out which songs you want.

Sponsors

I'm yet again trying to get ahold of some sponsors that said that they were interested and also some new ones. It alot harder then I thought!! But I will keep on trying.

In the last few days/weeks I've been pretty much stuck with my rapport. But yesterday I got quite stressed out when I realized it's just over three months left until we leave. And with christmas and all of that, the time will just fly away (even faster then it already does). So me, Emily and Elinor had a little talk and decided that we need to hurry it up a bit!

We also talked about how we will get to stockholm. I think that train is the best and easiest way, Elinor thought that flying up there would be best and Emily think going by car. We will see how we do once it is close enough for us to be able to buy tickets.

Bank

Today I stopped by my bank and opened a new account that I will use for my project. I will write a message with a description of my project and request for a donation to this account. I won't matter how much, just a small donation will do!

Tösabidarna girlie skatecamp 2011

Just got home after a crazy skate weekend. Pretty much skated all the time since Thursday afternoon. There is always such a good vibe on this cam and you really feel at home. That is one of the best things about skateboarding, you don't depend on another person to do their work but there are always someone there to cheer you on, help and push you to do your best.

During this camp there was two competitions arranged; one in bowl and one in street. Almost all of the 40(!) girls that participated in the camp signed up and we all had a blast. You always push yourself a little bit harder during a competition so it is really fun to watch and to compete.

Since my camera broke down and I skated as much as I did I wasn't able to take photos or get any video footage but there were several photographers and one of the girls hurt her foot so she spent the entire weekend behind the camera so I will get some material from them and post it on the blog later.

Girl Skate Camp- Malmö!

Next weekend it is time for Bryggeriet to arrange their fifth girl skate camp. It is the third time for me and I'm super excited since I always have a really good time! Just a bunch of skater girls from all over Sweden that get together for a weekend full of skate, good food and hang out!

I will bring my camera and try to get some footage for the movie and some photos for the blog.

re: VANS!

Last night I got a reply from VANS. They said that if I wanted a sponsorship/dornation from them I had to write a letter and send to them and it had to contain a certai information. I would be contacted by them if they decided to sponsor me. I will start working on that later this week and see how it goes.

Just wrapping up an e-mail to Vans were I ask them to sponsor me with some shoes! Vans is one of my favourite brands so it would be really awesome to get sponsored by them!

Keeping my fingers crossed and wait for an answer!

Design

Have just started working with some basics on the design. Nothing fancy at all but at least there is something more then justa blue text against a white background. I will try and work on it a bit more later on, but as for now, I really want to put my energy into other things!

Another sponsor and Nairobi

Found out today that MAXI agreed to sposnsor us! That is all I know for know and I'll probably found out what, when and how tomorrow, but I'm happy about it nonetheless.

We have also decided to go to Nairobi for a few days. We will go by train (Mombasa Express). It is a 14 hour trip one way and it is only 440 km, but it is cheap and it's also one of the most famous train rides. You get to see almost all of Kenya so I'm really excited about that. I am also keeping contact with some skaters that live in Nairobi so I'll probably get to skate with them and show up skateboarding and GIRL skateboarding aswell.

Maxi, ÖB and Willys

Today we went by Maxi and ÖB again after getting there just after the store managers had gone home. So today we gave it another try and we started of with Maxi. He sounded very positive about sponsoring us and promised he would contact us at midday tomorrow at the latest. But both ÖB and Willys said they didn't do any sponsoring at all and said they couldn't help us. We are still waiting to hear from Hemmakväll but when we stopped by yesterday she said she haven't had any time to look into it, but that she will do it soon!

New design and a tip from my dad!

Started working on a new design for this blog and it will hopefully be up and running quite soon. My friend Yo promised to help me out and since her previous work has been amazing I think she can really give this a boost (but I will maybe end up changing the blogs platfrom).

I also got a great tip from my dad today. Since he has good contacts in many big businesses he said I should start an account and then send a message around facebook (that he would help spread arround) so people can donate as much as they like, it could be 1 crown or 1000 crown, every little crown is welcome! I think this sounded like a good idea and I'll try to get it done by tomorrow!

Hemköp

Got a call back from Hemköp and they agreed to sponsor us, with 18 kg of candy!! Emily picked it up the other day so today we are meeting up at her place to divide the candy into small halloween bags, that we later on will sale! Hopefully we will earn some money that we can use for Kenya!

Also, I have not been able to find a email adress to Greger Hagelin so I haven't sent an email to him yet. I will look more into that later today!

Yesterday and today

Yesterday I met up with Elinor and Emily, the two girls I'm travelling to Kenya with, and we sat down to figure out a way to raise money for our project. Since I so far have not got anyone to sponsor me with money we had to figure out a new way. We came up with a fun idea but realized that we it do not bring as much money as we need. So today we went around town and asked for some local stores to sponsor us. Both Hemmakväll and Hemköp told us that they would call us back later today but the other three or four stores couldn't answer us, since they barely could speak either swedish nor english. So hiopefully we will get a few phonecalls tonight with some positive news!

I'm also started to think about contacting Greger Hagelin, the co-founder and CEO of the swedish street brand WESC. Saw the documentry "Hooked for Life" that tells the story about the swedish skateboard scene over the years, where Greger played a big role. Hopefully he will be interrested in my project!

Vimeo and Stockholm

Since we now have a place to stay during our short time in Stockholm we decided the other day to look for tickets, our hope was to find something fairly cheap. But apparently you couldn't buy any tickets if it is more then 90 days until you travel. So we just have to wait until then.

Auntie Lotta

Our flight leaves from Arlanda at 20:00 saturday night and we did not wanna risk missing our flight by taking a train in the morning so we decided to go up a day or so earlier. So I just talked to my aunt Lotta that lives up in Stockholm with her family. She said that we are more then welcome to stay a few nights at them before we go to Kenya. This means we avoid the expences of a hotel in Stockholm. And she also said she could pick us up at the train station and drive us to the airport aswell, which is really nice (and that mean we avoid even more expences since we don not have to pay for taxi).

One shilling is the same as 0.06 swedish crowns

Got aresponse from odd molly that said they have redirected my message to Christer (the co-founder of Odd Molly and also a pretty good skater!). So all I have to do now is to wait even more!

Just did a wild thing and sent an e-mail to Odd Molly, asking if they would sponsor me with money. Their clothes are nice but not made for skateboarding in. I really, really hope they will help me out! (Since the co-founder is a skateboarder you'll figure he would bite on to this but we'll just have to wait and see).

Mail sent to Hollywood about them sponsoring my project! I also went in to Ohana yesterday and talked to the owner Andreas and he seems very positive about it too.

Now I think I need to get out and improve my street (after I saw this video I think the Kenyan skaters have to teach me, instead of me teaching them!)

Kenya Skateboarders- WAKE UP teaser

Today I went into the big Hollywood store here in Gothenburg and talked to them about maybe sponsoring me. They were very positive about it and basically just write an e-mail to them that says what I want from them, what they would get in return and what the project is about. I'm so happy that so many shows interrest in what I'm going to do!

I also talked to my dads fiancees best friend, Love, and she said that she would try to help me get some shoes and that I probably could borrow her camera for the Kenya trip. I will in first hand try to get a camera on my own but if I don't manage that it feels really good to have a back-up plan!

Tomorrow I'll pop by Universeum and see if they maybe could help me out. Wish me luck!

Camera and tickets

Was about to book our Kenya tickets (wich we thankfully found for lot less money than what we expected!) but we run in to some problems. You have to bring the card you payed with for varification and since we planned on having my dad pay and then transfer the money to his account we had to change that. But none of us had that large amount of money in their account we hjave to transfer it to my account and then have me pay. But neither Elinor or Emily could do it tonight so we just have to wait yet another day for having our tickets booked.

Tomorrow I'm heading out to hopefully get another sponsor for my project. I've planned on asking the skateshops of Gothenburg to sponsor me with boards but rethinked and will now adk them for clothes and shoes (as I think 10 boards will be enough to bring with me).

I will also look around to maybe buy a camera and an Ipod to use for the project. Maybe I'll be able to attract a money sponsor aswell.

Since we are also going to watch the whale sharks and maybe collect some money for the East African Whale Shark Trust and do some volunteering (http://www.giantsharks.org/pages/projects.html#volunteer) I thought maybe we could get some spons and PR from universeum, a big science center here in Gothenburg, wich has earlier shown great interrest in saving the whale sharks. It's worth a try!

After a couple of minutes I got a message from a guy named Leo who is a skateboarder in Kenya. So I now have a "skater" contact in Kenya!

Dream camera!

This is the camera I'm dreaming of being able to use for my project. It's a Canon EOS 60D.

I'm currently looking around like maniac for sponsors and ways to bring in money. I will pay as much as I can myself but I still have a long way to go. i got to keep on looking!

ALL GIRLS CAMP!

Just got home after a weekend at the skatepark. Me and Joffa arranged a girl camp for this weekend and alot of girls showed up. Will post some photos and maybe videos from the weekend later but as for now you'll only get some lines of words. Talked to the girls about my project and they said they would help me out and they also thought it was an great idea, which I'm stoked to hear! Can't wait to really get going!
